Collaborative, inquiry-based K-12 learning places extraordinary demands on students' listening faculties. English learners at all proficiency levels benefit from strategy instruction that addresses the physical and linguistic features of attentive listening in academic contexts. In this interactive and practical institute, participants: 1) analyze the pragmatic demands of task-based lesson interactions; 2) explore key language functions; 3) explore strategies to infuse accountable listening tasks throughout lessons; and 4) receive print and digital resources to support effective implementation.
