This presentation will highlight the transformative possibilities ethnic studies courses can have on elementary and high school students in urban school districts. The focus will be on the students' youth participatory action research projects and the results of their participation. Students are able to identify social justice issues surrounding their personal lives and that of their community. A brief history on the development of this course will also be presented.
