- Andrés started playing music as a child growing up in Bogotá, Colombia, when his dad started teaching him to play the guitar at age eight. Shortly after, he joined a children’s music program and started playing the recorder, and then the clarinet. He started studying classical clarinet at the conservatory, and went on to earn a DMA (Doctorate in Musical Arts), specializing in clarinet performance. All along, Andrés was writing his own songs, and playing in bands of all kinds, from a punk band he started while in college, to Latin Jazz, salsa, Latin folk, and Norteño!
